Bacon Cheese Spread
- 2 cups shredded sharp or mild Cheddar cheese (8 ounces)
- 1/4 cup Dijon Mustard
- 2 tablespoons margarine or butter, softened
- 1/8 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup dry white wine or beer
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 48 Snack Crackers
Mix cheese, mustard, margarine or butter and pepper in blender
or food processor until cheese is finely chopped. Heat wine or beer
just to a boil. With food processor running, slowly pour hot liquid
into cheese mixture; continue processing until almost smooth. Stir
in green onions and bacon. Transfer to serving bowl; refrigerate
at least 2 hours to blend flavors. Let stand at room temperature
1 hour before serving. Serve as a spread on crackers.
