Down's release NOLA is a sonic experience somewhere between a melding of Black Sabbath and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Listeners will find this album a refreshing break form the formulaic metal that permeates the scene today.
The band consists of members from Pantera, Crowbar, and Corrosion of Conformity and is a side project6 for all involved. "NOLA" is an anachronism for the New Orleans and Louisiana area where most of the band members originally hail from. A new release in 2002 is rumored, but there has been no concrete information on whether this will happen.
The album consists of 13 songs: Temptation's Wings, Lifer, Pillars Of Eternity, Rehab, Hail The Leaf, Underneath Everything, Eyes Of The South, Jail, Losing All, Stone The Crow, Pray For The Locust, Swan Song, and Bury Me In Smoke.
