Riesling is an old version of sweet wine, although some versions can be tart. The grape is indigenous to Germany, but they are grown elsewhere. If drinking sweet wine is best suited for your palate than Riesling is a suitable choice. It goes well with Asian dishes, seafood and chocolate.

Sake is a Japanese rice wine from the 3rd century. It is a concoction of rice, water and mold. It is brewed for a month, aged for six months and should be consumed shortly after purchase. Sake is approximately 15-17 percent alcohol by volume and should be served warm, but not so hot that it destroys the flavor.

Chablis is a white wine made from the Chardonnay grape, which is also the area where the grapes are grown in Burgundy, France. The distinct flavor comes from the limestone in the area. A high quality Chablis could be aged for a decade and should be served cool. Its light, crispy and floral tastes best compliment seafood and light poultry.

Chardonnay is a white burgundy wine. Depending on the region where is it is grown and the fermentation process Chardonnay can be semi-sweet to sour or heavy to light. Today it is the most popular white wine available. This dry wine compliments poultry, seafood, such as lobster or scallops and cheeses, such as Gruyere, Provolone and Brie.
